The Norfolk Community Cohesion Strategic Group have produced a Community Cohesion Strategy and Work Plan 2008-11. This sets out the priorities for action, which are;
- developing a shared strategic approach
- accommodating growth and migration
- achieving equality
- managing community tension and tackling hate crime.

The Norfolk County Strategic Partnership has agreed to undertake a Participatory Budgeting pilot; 'Your Norfolk, Your Decision'.
Participatory budgeting is defined as ‘Local people deciding how to allocate part of a public budget’. It is a flexible process, which has been implemented in varying forms across areas of all sizes. It works to enhance participation in local democracy whilst improving community cohesion and ensuring the delivery of cost-effective local services.

We have received confirmation from Hazel Blears, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, that our Local Area Agreement (Norfolk Action) has been approved.
In her letter she acknowledges that the negotiations have progressed well, resulting in an excellent Local Area Agreement.

We also received some information from GO East showing that we have successfully disaggregated more targets than any other county. Our indicator leads worked very hard to achieve this and we will continue to work with partners to disaggregate the remaining targets. This will provide us with valuable performance data for the whole county and enable us to focus our delivery effectively.

The NCSP Board has agreed the refreshed Norfolk Ambition, the county's sustainable community strategy. Norfolk Ambition
This includes our new vision, that Norfolk is;
A place that inspires individuals and businesses to create, thrive and achieve
Communities that prosper, welcome and support
On England’s frontline in tackling climatic change and environmental sustainability.
This strategy includes;
- what is important for local people
- the challenges facing Norfolk, particularly the growth agenda
- updated key themes
- how we will measure progress
This strategy is based on the Norfolk county profile. Norfolk County Profile March 2008
Following the development of our 3 year targets within the Local Area Agreement, we will be setting longer term targets within this strategy.

A Review has been undertaken to look at the outcome of the 19 projects and initiatives currently funded by the 2nd homes monies, from the NCSP. There have been 2 rounds of allocation; September 2006 and May 2007, totalling £1,296,702 covering 19 projects/activities.

Norfolk is seeing the largest planned growth since the 1970s; 78,800 houses and 55,000 jobs by 2021.
The Norfolk County Strategic Partnership has identified this growth as one of the biggest challenges facing the county and is keen to look at the opportunities to ensure this is jobs led and creates sustainable communities.
Following a seminar in March, the Partnership has developed a spatial context for Norfolk, including spatial principles and established a new co-ordinating group.

As part of the Norfolk Local Area Agreement (LAA), a pilot was established for the 2006/7 financial year to examine work on the number of low-income families in over-indebtedness and the take-up of correct benefit and tax credit entitlements.

The Norfolk Data Observatory (NDO) now provides partners will access to a wide range of definitive, high quality statistics and indicators at multiple geographic levels across the county.
This includes key information on population, crime, deprivation, the Census, education, health and economic activity.
